How to manage as a student i Trondheim

Moving to a new city and figuring out how everything works can feel overwhelming.
What kind of public transport do they use? What grocery stores are there? Are there any apps that can help make life easier? Don’t worry! Here’s all the info you need to survive as a student in Trondheim.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
In Trondheim, the public transport system is called AtB. It takes you from A to B. Your ticket is valid on buses, trams, and trains. You are going to need a ticket that covers zone A (which covers all of Trondheim). You can also buy tickets for other zones that covers more of Trøndelag. The ticket is valid for your entire journey as long as it’s still active when you board. That means it can expire while you’re on the trip without needing to buy a new one. We strongly recommend buying a ticket—if not, you risk a fine of 1150 NOK (or 950 NOK if paid on the spot). There are regular ticket inspections, so be careful.

GROCERY STORES
You’ll find most of Norway’s major grocery chains in Trondheim. Here’s a quick overview:

Budget chains:

  • Rema 1000

  • Kiwi

  • Coop Extra

Mid-range supermarkets:
